Black truffles and Porcini mushrooms are providing the vanguard for the Alba white truffle.A hectic summer that has meant little attention to Piemontemio.com so here are some thoughts, news and photos:

Enzo Rapalino wins my vote for the best value 2008 Barbaresco (La Ganghija) at the recent Piacere Barbaresco. His Chardonnay, Langhe Nebbiolo and Barbera always find a space in my cellar. Lots of our other favourites showed well and at the top of the tree in quality (and price) I couldn’t resist swallowing: Tenuta Marchesi di Gresy 2006 Camp Gros, Pio Cesare Il Bricco 2007, Bruno Rocca Rabajà 2008 all superb.
